WATA's beloved scraper driver of 10 plus years, one of the original founders of MMOGTA and people mover driver, Tony Simon, has been diagnosed with throat cancer and is in Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.

A benefit is going to be held for him on May 14, 2011 at the Wheatland Township Park in Remus.

The benefit will begin at 1:00 pm with lunch at 3:00 pm.

There will be 50/50 drawings and an auction.

Please come join us to help get Stroh's Man back on his feet and on the road to recovery. The family needs all the support you can give and then some!!

Rule Changes for 2011

There is one rule change to be noted for the 2011 pulling year at WATA...

For all classes UP TO and also INCLUDING the 4000 lb weight class, the MAXIMUM Originally Equipped Cubic Inches allowed will be 230 cu.in.
For example an Oliver 88 is originally equipped with 231 cu.in., so they will not be allowed to pull in the 4000 class and under.

WOW!!!

With over 70 truck pulling hooks and 250 tractor pulling hooks, the weekend was a huge success and a ton of fun! Thanks to everyone for coming and helping to support WATA.

With 61 hooks for the Truck Pull on Friday night and 73 hooks for the Tractor Pull on Saturday, Barryton Homecoming Days had a nice turnout. Hope to see all those pullers again next year.

WATA would like to give a BIG thanks to Mike Cole for being our hook man at EVERY pull. It takes a lot to be out in the hot sun all day to hook every tractor to the sled and not ask for a replacement. We really appreciate it!!!

W.A.T.A. would like to thank everyone for coming out to the pull on Labor Day weekend.. what a turnout!!! Over 200 hooks! We really hope everyone had fun, we certainly did. The Labor Day pull is the one that all of us in Remus look forward to, seeing everyone come to pull with us from all over, a lot of the guys from Oakley and MTPA, a big THANKS to EVERYONE!!

The pull went a little late but all in all it was a great day.

What a Great Turn Out!!

Pullers and fans alike had a great time at Heritage Days this year and if you weren't there you missed out...

With several hundred people watching the truck pulls Friday night the 50/50 drawing made it up to $1,536 so there was a really happy spectator that received $768 at the end of the night

Saturday's tractor pull was a larger turn out than expected, with 3 other pulls in the area, at 125 hooks and good crowd. Overall it was a really good turn out and the best track we've had so far this season.

The Parade on Saturday morning, the annual car show, the craft show, and the softball tournaments are only a few of the things your family will enjoy. For those of you that enjoy later nights the Hospitality Tent opens at noon and goes until midnight.

Transfer Sled Rules

2008 Remus MI

All Classes:

Contestants enter at own risk, must have control of tractor & operate in a safe manner at all times.
Driver must remain seated during pull with one hand on the steering wheel at all times.
All tractors must weigh prior to hooking to sled. Each tractor allowed one hook per class.
Driver must start pull with a tight chain and is allows 75 feet or two tries to move the sled
Tractors specifications- Must be brand name manufacturer.
· Must be two-wheel drive, no radials, duals, chains or steel wheels.
· Must be naturally aspirated, no turbo or blowers unless factory equipped
· Stock fuel only (gas, diesel, or LP). No alcohol, nitro-methane or nitrous.
· May pull in any gear. No shifting of Torque Amplifiers while pulling.
Weights- A one percent margin of error is allowed in all weight classes.
· All weights must be stationary and safely secured to the tractor. Anything falling from the tractor while hooked to the sled results in a disqualification.
· Front weights cannot extend more than 11 feet from the center of rear axle to furthest point forward.
· Rear weights may not extend rearward beyond radius of rear tires.
Boundaries- Contact points of the tractor (front & rear tires) must stay inbounds. Chalk-line is out of bounds, touching the chalk-line results in disqualification.
Hitch- Hitch height is 20 inches. Drawbar must be rigid in all directions. Opening for hook= 3x3 hole.
All rules, problems and oversights will be ruled on by the judges with their decision being final.

Antique Class (3.0 mph)
Classes: 3200, 4200, 4700, 5200, 6200, 7200, 8200

Safety Equipment- Fenders and wheelie bars are not required, but highly recommended.
Year- Manufactured in or before 1957 including total production run of the model.
RPM’s- 10% over stock RPM’s for the model (no load M&W RPM chart)
Speed- 3.0 mph allowed. Third horn blow results in disqualification.
Tire Size- 15.5-38 max size. Tire Cut- Top cut only no full cut tires. No restrictions on the tops of lugs. Front of lugs and casings between lugs cannot be altered.
Hitch- No higher than 20 inches and no less than 24 inches from the center of the rear axle.

Antique Plus Class (4.5 mph)
Classes: 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000 Farm Stock, 9000 Farm Stock

Safety Equipment- Working kill switch, fenders and wheelie bars are mandatory. Wheelie bars must be independent of hitch, at least 4 inches behind tires, no higher than 10 inches from the ground, 20 inches apart and must be able to support the weight of the tractor in its heaviest class.
Any agricultural updraft carburetor allowed. Number of barrels, throats, venture must be same as the stock carburetor for the make and model of tractor.
Year- Manufactured in or before 1957 including total production run of the model.
RPM’s- 20% over stock RPM’s for the model (no load M&W RPM chart)
Speed- 4.5 mph allowed. Third horn blow results in disqualification
Tire Size- 18.4-38 max size. Tire Cut- Any cut allowed

Points System:

1st place will receive ten points through 10th place receiving one point.
Points follow the tractor, not the puller.
A tractor must hook & attempt to pull boat in order to receive 5 hook points.
Disqualified tractors will receive 5 hook points.
In case of a 1st place tie, the tractor with the most 1st place finishes wins the points championship.
